Aaron and I visited an odd and wonderful spot today, Gucifeng. The temple complex atop a Hsinchu hill was crammed full of of curiosities, including oversized shoe statues, mythical beasts, a grotto full of Buddhas, rickety stairs, faux dinosaur bones, a warehouse of dusty wooden deities, Grecian statuary, a 120 meter high war god and overgrown picnic spots. And that’s with the ancient jade carvings and stuffed Taiwanese animals locked up for the day.
